KUCHING: Runners of all endurance levels have only until this Sunday (May 11) to sign up for tHe Spring’s Live Active Run 2014.
The run, Kuching’s biggest community run, will be held on June 15.
There are eight categories to suit all types of runners, including the new 21km Ekiden Relay, where teams of four will compete in a relay race covering a distance of 21km.
Live Active Run 2014 event manager Elwin Chung said that each team for the Ekiden Relay must have four members and each team must have at least one female or male.
The other categories are the 21km half-marathon (men’s and women’s divisions), 10km run (men and women divisions), 5km fun run (men and women divisions), and the 1km kids dash.
The event is a follow-up to the successes of previous runs and will be a fun-filled morning celebrating health, fitness and togetherness.
Runners will be competing for prizes worth more than RM30,000. All participants, excluding the 5km category, can look forward to exclusive medals made from zinc alloy. Each participant will also get goodie bags which will include a limited edition runner’s t-shirt, vouchers and products.
The run targets to raise at least RM45,000 for three Sarawak-based charities – Sarawak Hospice Society, Habitat for Humanity, and the Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group.
Live Active Run 2014 is sponsored by Level Up Fitness as the official fitness centre, Coneli Sports as the official apparel, Brooks as official footwear and 100 Plus as the official isotonic while Kenisio Tape will provide tape for all runners.
Level Up Fitness is conducting training classes for participants of the 21km category.
Gym members can still register at Early Bird rates while corporations can enjoy the Early Bird rate with a minimum sign up of 10 runners.
Those interested can contact the A&P Department at 082-238111.
Registration can be also done online at www.liveactiverun.com <http://www.liveactiverun.com> or at tHe Spring’s Customer Service Counter.
